The main problem of Russia's automotive industry is the small capacity of the domestic market. Auto expert and former ROAD director Oleg Moseev stated this to Motor magazine. According to him, it is the limited sales volume that hinders deep localization of production.
The main problem of Russia's automotive industry is the small market capacity. Accordingly, in order to localize production, manufacturers catastrophically lack the capacity of the Russian market.
The expert emphasized that because of this, the country remains dependent on supplies of automotive components from abroad. At the same time, interaction with unfriendly countries is complicated. Friendly states, according to him, also have their own production objectives.
In particular, Moseev pointed to the situation in China. In his assessment, there is an excess of production capacity there by approximately two times, but companies need to keep their own factories loaded.
