Germany Stops Scheme to Supply Luxury Cars to Russia

In Germany, a court sentenced a 49-year-old entrepreneur from Bavaria to six years in prison for illegally supplying premium cars to Russia, bypassing sanctions. According to BR.de, the dealer organized the sale of 111 armored vehicles with a total value of about 20 million euros.

The businessman from the city of Miltenberg owned a car dealership and, according to the investigation, had been supplying cars to Russia through circumvention schemes for several years. The most expensive car sold cost 750 thousand euros.

The court ordered not only to send the entrepreneur to prison, but also to confiscate the funds received from the transactions. 18.6 million euros were seized from his accounts.

Employees of the dealership also became defendants in the case. They were given suspended sentences for participating in illegal supplies.

The investigation claims that the suppression of the scheme thwarted the entrepreneur's further plans. According to law enforcement agencies, he was going to send about 400 more cars to Russia.
