Car sales in Russia began to decline

The truck market fell by a third after record figures

In the second week of March, the Russian automotive market showed a decline in sales after record figures a week earlier. The drop was moderate in the passenger car segment and more noticeable in commercial transport.

From March 9 to 15, about 20.4 thousand new passenger cars were registered. This is 10.5% less than in the previous week, but 17% more compared with the same period last year.

A decline was also recorded in the light commercial vehicle segment. During the week, 1,238 new LCVs were registered, which is 8% less compared with the previous week and 21.5% below the result of the same week last year.

The truck segment returned to the figures typical of recent months — below one thousand vehicles per week. A total of 157 medium-duty trucks and 734 heavy trucks were registered.

Overall, the truck market shrank by 33% compared with the previous week and by 27% relative to the same week last year.
