The most affordable kei truck becomes safer

The 2026 Daihatsu Hijet Truck received 13 Smart Assist safety systems and retained the same engines

Daihatsu has updated the Daihatsu Hijet Truck kei truck for the 2026 model year. The main changes concern safety systems. Similar improvements were made to the Toyota Pixis Truck, which is a technical analogue of the model.

The main innovation is the updated Smart Assist complex. It includes 13 driver assistance systems. Among them are bicycle detection, oncoming traffic control when turning right, and pedestrian recognition when maneuvering at intersections.

The exterior and interior of the model remained unchanged. At the same time, the Extra trim is now equipped with LED optics with adaptive high beam and additional side lights for driving in narrow passages.

The Daihatsu Hijet Truck is available in a Jumbo version with an extended cab. A wide selection of commercial modifications is also retained, including dump trucks, vans and refrigerators.

The model is equipped with gasoline engines with a volume of 660 cc. The naturally aspirated version develops 46 hp, the turbocharged version - up to 63 hp. Rear or all-wheel drive, manual transmission or variator are available. A differential lock is offered for the 4WD version.

The price of the Daihatsu Hijet Truck starts from 1,094,500 yen (569,279 rubles) and reaches 1,628,000 yen (846,767 rubles) for top versions. Specialized modifications can cost up to 2,733,000 yen (1,421,507 rubles). Since its launch in 1960, more than 4.58 million cars have been sold.
