The head of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, stated that the number of confirmed orders for the new SU7 exceeded 40,000 in the first weeks. Deliveries began on March 23, and more than 7,000 cars were handed over to customers in nine days.
In total, in March, the Xiaomi Auto division shipped over 20,000 cars, a significant part of which was the Xiaomi SU7. Such rates indicate high initial demand.
At the same time, interest in another model, the YU7, has decreased. Waiting times have been reduced from 33–56 weeks to 7–14 weeks. Previously, total deliveries of this model exceeded 200,000 units, which made it possible to close the main order portfolio.
Against the backdrop of a decrease in new orders, the company is strengthening its development strategy. In March, Kung Yanshuang, former top manager of Tesla in China, joined Xiaomi Auto and will be responsible for sales.
At the same time, the manufacturer is expanding its model range. In 2026, it is planned to launch from four to six new cars with electric and hybrid power plants.
The lineup will include new sedans and crossovers in the price range from 200,000 to 550,000 yuan (from 2,338,000 to 6,432,000 rubles). Among them are an extended version of the SU7, a budget model SU5, as well as several SUVs with increased range.
