Jensen prepares for Interceptor GTX premiere: new sports car to become a test platform for future models

The British company has shown a pre-production track prototype with an aluminum body and a supercharged V8, which will form the basis of production cars

Jensen International Automotive has revealed new details about the Interceptor GTX project, which will have its world premiere in the second quarter of 2026. Despite the expectations of brand fans, the new car will not be a production vehicle, but a pre-production track prototype intended for testing future models of the brand.

Initially, the manufacturer's wording caused a mixed reaction, as the Interceptor GTX was called a "pre-production high-performance track car," which some foreign publications interpreted as a hint of a limited series for customers. However, the company later clarified that it is indeed a test vehicle that will be used to refine technologies before the release of road and track versions.

According to David Duerden, Managing Director of Jensen International Automotive, the Interceptor GTX is not an exhibition concept, but a full-fledged engineering prototype demonstrating the brand's development direction. Its world premiere is timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the original Jensen Interceptor.

The company also emphasizes that the new car is neither a restomod nor a continuation of the production of the classic Interceptor. The car was created entirely from scratch and received a hand-built aluminum body, an aluminum chassis, and a supercharged V8 engine. The manufacturer promises a maximally "analog" driving character without excessive digitalization.

Technical specifications have not yet been officially disclosed. According to previous publications, under the hood there may be a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine manufactured by General Motors, familiar from the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. In this model, the unit develops 685 hp and 911 Nm of torque, but Jensen has not yet confirmed the use of this particular power plant.

The company plans to introduce production road and track versions based on the Interceptor GTX later.
