Tesla intends to significantly increase production volumes at its Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg in Grünheide and create 3,500 new jobs. The American manufacturer is betting on a recovery in demand for the Model Y, while many European carmakers continue to announce staff reductions.
During the 2026 fiscal year, Tesla expects to increase the plant's output to 7,500 vehicles per week, which corresponds to approximately 375,000 cars per year. For comparison, in 2025, the factory produced about 202,000 vehicles, while in 2024, this figure was approximately 211,000 units.
The company explains the decrease in production volumes last year by updating the model range and launching new modifications, rather than a drop in buyer interest. Now Tesla expects to increase the plant's utilization as demand recovers and profitability grows.
The Grünheide plant, opened in March 2022, remains Tesla's only production facility in Europe. The enterprise produces exclusively the Model Y, supplying cars to more than 30 markets, and the export geography is expected to expand in the future.
At the end of 2025, the plant employed about 11,000 people, including temporary staff. After the expansion, the staff will increase by another 3,500 employees. At the same time, Tesla intends to strengthen vertical integration of production, developing the production of battery cells directly at the enterprise along with car assembly.
