Tesla has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas against supplier Angstrom Automotive Group LLC. The automaker claims that the company is withholding production tooling necessary for Cybertruck production and is demanding $250,000 per week for its storage.

According to the lawsuit, Tesla representatives arrived at Angstrom's facility in Troy, Texas, on July 21 to retrieve the equipment, but were denied. The company states that the tooling belongs to Tesla, and the supplier was not involved in its development, manufacturing, or financing.

The uniqueness of the equipment lies in the fact that it was created exclusively for the production of Cybertruck parts. According to Tesla, manufacturing each set of such tooling takes five to six months, making it impossible to quickly replace it.

In court documents, the company warns that without this equipment, it will not be able to produce several thousand Cybertrucks that are already in the production plan. Moreover, a significant portion of these vehicles, Tesla claims, has already been allocated to buyers.

Angstrom Automotive Group's position was not publicly available at the time of publication. The court will have to determine who owns the disputed production assets and whether the supplier is obligated to transfer them to Tesla.
