Daihatsu will start selling the updated Tanto from August 31, 2026. The company decided not to change the car's exterior, but to focus on electronics and safety systems. The main innovation is the modernized Smart Assist complex. Now the car can recognize cyclists crossing the road, oncoming cars when turning right, and pedestrians crossing the trajectory of movement when turning. The pedestrian detection range has also been increased from 60 to 80 km/h.

The update is especially noticeable for turbocharged versions. The Smart Cruise package, which includes adaptive cruise control with full stop function, LKC, a separate display, steering wheel buttons, ETC, and cross-traffic alert, is now standard equipment.

The price, however, has increased. The basic front-wheel drive Tanto L costs 1.496 million yen (approximately 775,000 rubles), and the top-end Custom RS all-wheel drive version costs 2.145 million yen (1.1 million rubles). For atmospheric versions, the increase is 11 thousand yen, for turbocharged versions - 60.5 thousand yen (5,700 and 31,000 rubles, respectively).

The current Tanto remains exclusively gasoline-powered for now. Car Repo links the next generation with the possible appearance of the proprietary e-SMART HYBRID, but Daihatsu has not yet officially announced such a power plant for the future Tanto.
