Mazda3 to get Spirit Racing version with turbo engine in 2027

The car is expected to feature racing program technologies: a 2.5-liter turbo engine, Brembo, RAYS, and aerodynamics from the track version

Mazda is preparing the MAZDA SPIRIT RACING 3 (MSR3) – a sports version of the Mazda3, which is planned to be launched on the Japanese market in January 2027. Car Repo calls the model a future production car, but some of its characteristics remain speculative for now.

The main intrigue is the engine. According to the source, the MSR3 will receive a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G 2.5T turbocharged gasoline engine, specially modified for this version. The overseas version with 250 hp is taken as a basis, but the final output of the Japanese car has not yet been officially disclosed.

Moreover, the connection with motorsport here is not just marketing. The racing MAZDA SPIRIT RACING 3 Future concept, competing in the Japanese Super Taikyu series, is equipped with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine with 310 hp, a six-speed sequential gearbox, Brembo brakes, and RAYS TE37 wheels.

The road-going MSR3 is announced to have a sport-tuned suspension, forged RAYS TE37 wheels, Brembo brakes, and RECARO seats. The exterior will be complemented by an advanced aerodynamic body kit and a large rear wing. The price of the new product has not yet been announced.
