Porsche has denied reports of an imminent end to Taycan production. A company representative stated that the brand currently has no plans to discontinue the model in the near future.
However, changes are indeed occurring within the family. Porsche is reducing the number of Taycan modifications to reduce production complexity. For example, the Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo will no longer be offered in the US after the 2026 model year.
The reason for the strategy revision is quite practical. Taycan sales have significantly decreased, while Porsche is facing weaker demand for expensive electric vehicles. However, the company has already invested significant funds in the model and for now prefers to adapt its offering rather than close the project.
It is noteworthy that Porsche continues to develop the technical capabilities of the Taycan. Recently, the Turbo GT Weissach version with the Manthey Racing package set a new record among production electric sedans at the Nürburgring – 6 minutes 55.553 seconds.
Thus, it is not about the death of the Taycan, but rather about its reformatting. Porsche is removing less popular options and focusing on versions that can better justify production and development costs.
