Tesla has enabled the long-awaited Powershare feature for Cybertruck and Powerwall 3 owners. Previously, the Cybertruck could already supply energy to the home grid via the Powershare system, but joint operation with Powerwall was not available. Now, the feature is activated programmatically, without installing additional hardware for already compatible systems.

When the external grid is disconnected, the system automatically switches the house to power from the Cybertruck. The pickup can deliver up to 11.5 kW of continuous power. Tesla estimates the autonomous operation of a fully charged Cybertruck to be more than three days for an average American home with a consumption of about 30 kWh per day.

More interestingly, in conjunction with Powerwall, the energy reserve increases by approximately another three days. Tesla emphasizes that the car's battery effectively becomes an additional storage unit, and Powerwall can simultaneously power the home and be used to cover short-term peak loads.

Technically, this works due to bidirectional charging: the Cybertruck's built-in inverter converts the battery's direct current into alternating current for the home grid. With solar panels, the car can also be recharged during the day, extending the system's autonomy.
