Volkswagen is recalling 49,958 Tiguan crossovers from the 2025 model year in the USA. The reason is a software glitch in the BCM control unit: under certain conditions, it can restart while driving.
After the BCM restarts, the ignition may turn off and the engine may stall. Simultaneously, the vehicle may lose some controls and warning signals, exterior lighting, or the image from the rearview camera. NHTSA indicates that such malfunctions increase the risk of an accident.
The recall affects vehicles manufactured from March 24 to August 30, 2025. However, Volkswagen has not yet reported any accidents or injuries specifically related to this defect.
The fix is software-based: dealers will update the BCM software free of charge. The campaign has been assigned internal number 57KL, and Volkswagen plans to send letters to owners on November 6, 2026. A specific vehicle can be checked by VIN through the Volkswagen recall service.
