Nissan is rethinking its approach to car trim. The first model where the company consciously abandoned a large amount of piano black in the interior and bright exterior chrome was the new 2027 Rogue Hybrid – the American relative of the future X-Trail.
The main complaint about glossy black plastic is practical. Fingerprints and minor scratches quickly become noticeable on it. Therefore, Nissan used more durable matte and textured materials in frequently contacted areas.
A similar principle was applied to the exterior. Bright chrome is gradually giving way to dark chrome, painted elements, and more restrained decorative solutions. Nissan believes that this approach better matches modern car design.
The changes coincided with the technical update of the Rogue. The hybrid received an e-POWER system with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine-generator and two electric motors. The total power reaches 225 hp, and all-wheel drive is provided exclusively by electric motors.
At the same time, Nissan retained physical buttons for basic functions – climate control, seat heating, and ventilation control. This means that the focus is not only on appearance but also on the convenience of daily use.
