VinFast is trying to regain its position in the American market after a sharp drop in registrations. From January to July 2026, only 389 vehicles of the brand were registered in the US, 63% less than a year earlier. Of these, 319 were VF 8s and 70 were three-row VF 9s.
The company is responding to the decline by updating its model range and dealership network. Sales of the 2027 model year VF 8 began in September. The crossover received an expanded suite of assistants, including automatic emergency braking when reversing, intersection assist, and a system to stop the car if the driver is incapacitated. The price starts at $40,400 (3.36 million rubles).
At the same time, VinFast signed agreements with three new dealers — in Redondo Beach and Tustin, California, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The company is also developing a Certified Pre-Owned program for used electric vehicles.
There is also a financial incentive: 0% APR financing for up to 84 months is offered for the VF 8. This approach reduces the monthly payment and allows VinFast to compete not only on vehicle characteristics but also on cost of ownership.
However, the American strategy remains complex: the dealership network is still small, and the launch of its own production in North Carolina has faced delays. Therefore, the next test for VinFast is whether the updated VF 8 can turn infrastructure expansion into real deliveries.
