Jaguar unveils production Type 01: electric GT gets 1016 hp and up to 720 km range

The new model retains the design of the Type 00 concept almost unchanged and features a triple-motor powertrain

Jaguar has unveiled the production Type 01 — the first car of the brand's new era and a four-door electric Grand Tourer. The car was shown in New York on October 7. Production will begin in 2027 at the JLR plant in Solihull, while battery packs and electric drives will be manufactured at other British company facilities.

The Type 01 is built on Jaguar's proprietary JEA architecture and features three electric motors — one at the front and two at the rear. Their combined output reaches 1016 hp, with torque of 1365 Nm. Acceleration to 62 mph (100 km/h) takes approximately 3.2 seconds.

The battery has a capacity of approximately 120 kWh. Jaguar claims a range of up to 450 miles (about 724 km), and fast charging allows for up to 200 miles of range in about 13 minutes. Final specifications for individual markets may vary.

A distinctive feature of the Type 01 is the absence of a traditional rear window. Instead, it uses a camera and an in-cabin display. A 24-inch OLED screen is installed in front of the driver, and a massive longitudinal console occupies the central part of the cabin.

Jaguar has also retained the extreme proportions of the Type 00 concept: a long hood, a low roof, and 23-inch wheels. Active aerodynamic elements and a three-stage retractable spoiler helped achieve a drag coefficient of Cd 0.23.
