New BMW iX3 M60 is 160 km more long-range than Porsche Macan Turbo Electric

The most powerful Bavarian received 612 hp and a 108.7 kWh battery: it accelerates slower, but requires fewer charging stops

BMW has unveiled the new iX3 M60 xDrive — the first M Performance model on the Neue Klasse platform. The electric crossover received two electric motors with a total output of 450 kW (612 hp) and a maximum torque of 875 Nm. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and its top speed is 240 km/h.

The main advantage of the iX3 M60 over the Porsche Macan Turbo Electric is not dynamics, but range. BMW claims up to 754 km according to WLTP, while for Porsche this figure is about 590 km in the European specification. The difference exceeds 160 km.

At the same time, BMW did not have to install a significantly larger battery. The usable capacity of the iX3 M60 battery is 108.7 kWh. The maximum charging power reaches 400 kW: in 10 minutes at an 800-volt station, you can get up to 340 km of additional range.

The new electrically excited synchronous electric motor on the rear axle is responsible for the power increase. For it, BMW developed a new stator and a more powerful 420 A inverter instead of 300 A. This design does not require permanent magnets with rare earth metals.

The chassis also received full M Performance settings: adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering, and electronically controlled M Sport Differential. Orders for the iX3 M60 xDrive will begin in late January 2027, with production starting in spring at the BMW plant in Debrecen.
