Suddenly? Xiaomi may be the fastest in history to ship 1 million cars

Xiaomi aims for 550,000 cars in 2026, but may break records

Xiaomi has announced a target for car deliveries in 2026 of 550,000 units. This was announced by the founder and head of the company, Lei Jun, during the New Year's broadcast. He noted that in 2025, the total volume of deliveries exceeded 410,000 cars, while in December alone, the company shipped over 50,000 units.

The company's successes in 2025 were a continuation of its debut year in 2024, when about 140,000 Xiaomi cars entered the market, mainly the SU7 model. At that time, only the first phase of the plant was operating, which limited production.

Growth is confirmed by the results of the YU7: in the six months after its launch, the model was delivered in a quantity of more than 150,000 cars. This is almost 2.3 times higher than the SU7's figures for the same period and shows a high demand for the expanding line.

If Xiaomi meets its target of 550,000 units, the company will be the fastest to enter the "Million Club", joining a number of electric vehicle manufacturers that have reached the million-car mark. For comparison, it took companies like Leapmotor, Li Auto and Xpeng about ten years to achieve a similar result. And Xiaomi entered the market less than two years ago.

Nio is also close to the million-car mark, with its millionth electric car expected to roll off the assembly line on January 6, 2026. Unlike its competitors, Xiaomi has a chance to become the fastest-growing automaker in history, reaching one million units in just its third year of production.

The delivery of 50,000 cars in December 2025 indicates an average monthly rate that allows for 600,000 units in 2026. Thus, the target figure of 550,000 cars looks quite conservative.

The reasons for the cautious forecast may be related to the gradual decline in hype after the launch of the first models and the expected increase in competition. In 2026, the company plans to introduce two SUVs with increased range, which will increase pressure on the market.

Xiaomi continues to increase production and strengthen its position in the Chinese electric vehicle market. The high demand for the SU7 and YU7 models, as well as the successful expansion of the line, give the company every chance to break historical records and reach new milestones in deliveries.
