The Chinese company Zeekr has officially confirmed the release of the new Zeekr 8X plug-in hybrid SUV, which will be the brand's second car with an internal combustion engine.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the car is equipped with a 2.0-liter DHE20-PFZ turbocharged engine manufactured by Aurobay Technologies with a power of 205 kW (275 hp) and a lithium-ion battery developed by the CATL-Geely joint venture. Two battery options are available - 55.1 and 70 kWh, providing a range on electric power according to the WLTC standard of up to 256 and 328 km, respectively.
Zeekr 8X will be offered in 5- and 6-seater versions, taking a place below Zeekr 9X. The dimensions of the SUV are 5100/1998/1780 mm, the wheelbase is 3069 mm. The curb weight varies from 2660 to 2820 kg, and the towing capacity reaches 2000 kg, which makes the car suitable for transporting medium-heavy trailers.
The design of the Zeekr 8X partially repeats the older Zeekr 9X model: the front panel retains the waterfall-shaped radiator grille, and the headlights have a separate design. Lidar is installed on the roof, and double-layer lights are used at the rear with the upper layer occupying the entire width.
The car is offered with three tire sizes: 255/55 R20, 255/50 R21 and 275/40 R22. Six wheel options and red brake calipers are available. Additional options include decorative trim for the side mirrors, front and rear bumpers, roof rack, door handle covers, a protective cover for the camera on the fender, and a digital rearview mirror.
The Zeekr 8X power plant is a plug-in hybrid. The 2.0-liter engine works in conjunction with a triple battery, which provides electric traction for 256-328 km, depending on the battery capacity. For comparison, the older Zeekr 9X uses the same engine and battery, but the range according to WLTC reaches 230-302 km on electric power and 982-1049 km taking into account the hybrid scheme.
It is expected that the top version of the Zeekr 8X will be equipped with three electric motors with a total power of up to 1030 kW (1381 hp). It will also come with a 6C fast charging battery and a Haohan AI digital chassis, similar to that used in the Zeekr 9X.
The car is positioned as a mid-size and large SUV with a high level of equipment, which combines the capabilities of electric traction with a gasoline engine, providing the buyer with flexibility and range for long trips.
The Zeekr 8X is expected to be released on the market in the first half of 2026. The company offers different configurations and equipment options, which will allow adapting the car to the individual needs of the owners.
