The year 2026 promises to be eventful for the Russian automotive market. According to Autonews.ru, manufacturers have prepared more than 40 new and updated models, including about ten cars of Russian brands, and the rest are Chinese brands. The main mass of new products are SUVs of compact and mid-size segments, which will become the main drivers of sales.
The beginning of the year is expected to be difficult: analysts predict a drop in sales of new cars to 80-100 thousand per month, as demand was "pulled" by the scrappage fee. The main wave of premieres starts in the spring, and the peak of new products will fall on the summer-autumn of 2026.
Russian brands will present several notable models. The first serial crossoverLada Azimut will appear in the summer of 2026. The B+ segment car will receive 1.6 and 1.8 liter engines, "mechanics" or a variator, and among the options are a panoramic sunroof, two-zone climate control, all-round cameras, wireless charging and heated side windows.
Chinese premieres includeTenet T9 - a flagship crossover based on Chery Tiggo 9 with a two-liter engine with a capacity of 245 hp, an automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. Production will be established at the former Volkswagen plant in Kaluga, but the exact characteristics are still kept secret. Sollers is preparing a seven-seater frame SUV S9, presumably a double of the JAC T9 SUV with a 2 liter diesel engine with a capacity of 200 hp and an eight-speed "automatic".
In the second half of the year, Jaecoo J6 will appear in Russia, comparable in size to Geely Coolray, with 19 ADAS assistants, a 540-degree panoramic camera and climate control for pets. Li Auto has officially entered the market with hybrid crossovers L6, L7 and L9, with a factory warranty of three years or 100 thousand km of mileage and an adapted master account for a Russian SIM card.
In the luxury segment, the premiere of Hongqi L1 is expected - a limousine with a radically different design, a combination of retro motifs and modern style, designed to replace the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7-Series. The GAC S7 hybrid crossover with a brutal square body, two-story optics and a luminous strip instead of daytime running lights should also reach Russia.
Frame SUVs will also not ignore the market: BAIC BJ41 (BJ40 Pro) externally resembles the Jeep Wrangler and competes with the Tank 300, differing in frameless doors.
Deepal EO7 from Changan is also preparing for release - a transformer: a coupe-crossover turns into a pickup truck if necessary, thanks to a sliding fifth door and a folding tailgate.
The revival of domestic brands will continue with the"Moskvich" line with M70 and M90 crossovers, reminiscent of the Chinese MG HS and MG RX9, with turbo engines and a nine-speed "automatic".
The return of the Volga brand withmodels K40, K30 and C40 is also expected, the production of which will be established at the facilities of the Nizhny Novgorod auto cluster.
Chinese GWM will show the "super SUV" Super Off-Road with a frame structure and Hi4 all-wheel drive system, capable of surpassing Tank 300, 500 and 700.
