Defender Octa - Land Rover at Its Best

It's essentially a supercar for off-road adventures

Land Rover always started with simple vehicles: the first models resembled tractors with off-road capabilities thanks to the all-wheel-drive system. Over time, the brand transformed into a symbol of adventure and exploration, and Land Rover photos from around the world became true postcards for adventure enthusiasts.

Today, Land Rover has branched into several luxury directions, but there's a model that remains most faithful to the original concept - the Defender Octa. This vehicle is an off-road supercar, exuding a spirit of adventure and allowing owners to overcome any obstacles, whether real or imagined.

The 2026 Defender Octa is equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, producing 626 hp. It accelerates to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, and the transmission is an eight-speed automatic. Power is achieved as early as 1800 rpm and maintained up to 5800 rpm, making the Octa a true off-road monster.

The 6D Dynamic suspension combines hydraulically linked dampers and a pneumatic system, eliminating the need for anti-roll bars. This provides excellent on-road performance while maintaining full off-road functionality. The suspension articulation allows the wheels to maintain contact with the ground even on challenging obstacles, and Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers and 15.7-inch discs ensure reliable braking.

Octa mode is activated by a button on the steering wheel: the car enters corners more confidently, reduces roll during braking and acceleration, and smoothly absorbs bumps. At the same time, the steering remains precise and responsive, making it easier to handle on difficult tracks and in the city.

The downsides of the model are the high price and limited color palette. The Defender Octa starts at $160,000, with the First Edition test model in Faroe Green costing $170,200. However, the car's capabilities are impressive: a ground clearance of 32.3 cm, a wading depth of 100 cm, and approach and departure angles of over 40 degrees. In these parameters, the Octa surpasses the AMG G63 with a price of almost $200,000 and standard suspension.

The Defender Octa is the pinnacle of what a Land Rover can be: an SUV capable of taking its owner to the farthest corners of the planet and providing a sense of adventure that you want to experience again and again.
