Jeep Wagoneer S 2026: The Brand's First Electric SUV

Pros and Cons of the Model Named

The first all-electric Jeep SUV for the American market, the 2026 Wagoneer S, is a modern, fast, and comfortable vehicle that looks impressive on paper.

The Limited version features two electric motors with a combined output of 500 hp (373 kW), all-wheel drive, a range of 473 km, and costs approximately $67,195 in the test configuration. On the road, the car demonstrates excellent dynamics, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h claimed in about 3.4 seconds.

The exterior of the Wagoneer S evokes mixed impressions. The familiar Jeep grille is visible at the front, but the overall shapes and color scheme are more reminiscent of Chrysler: elegant, restrained, and modern. The large rear spoiler, silver and black wheels, and smooth body lines emphasize the car's calm style, but the SUV atmosphere and brutality traditionally associated with Jeep are almost absent.

The interior of the Wagoneer S is spacious and comfortable. The front and rear seats are comfortable, with good shock absorption and lateral support, although taller drivers may find it a bit cramped overhead. The dashboard is modern and intuitive, and the Stellantis infotainment system is responsive. The main drawback is the glossy plastic panel in front of the passenger, which quickly collects dust and fingerprints, creating the impression of cheap execution.

The climate control has flexible settings, but the touch elements often react with a delay. Jeep offers automatic temperature control and an optional display for the passenger, but even without it, the basic system is quite functional. The digital instrument panel is high-contrast, customizable, and easy to read, and the tactile ventilation controls leave a positive impression.

The Wagoneer S demonstrates high dynamics on the road. The steering is sharp and informative, the car confidently handles turns, and body roll is minimal. Even at a low battery level, acceleration remains powerful-at 19% charge, the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.85 seconds. However, the brakes raise questions, especially for a heavy electric SUV, and the suspension on uneven roads seems too stiff and poorly absorbs sharp impacts.

The interior space is optimized: there is enough legroom, the trunk is convenient for small items, and the folding rear seats expand the space. The interior materials and trim are generally simple, without bright elements of luxury, which is a bit disappointing in the context of the first electric Jeep. The tactile elements and build quality are generally good, but the interior looks safe and a bit neutral.

On the market, the Wagoneer S faces serious competition. Direct competitors include the Tesla Model Y Performance, Chevrolet Blazer EV SS, Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, as well as more expensive models like the Porsche Macan EV. They all offer similar characteristics, more spacious or technologically advanced interiors, and a competitive range.

The Wagoneer S stands out for its speed and comfort on the highway, but the Jeep identity remains questionable. The electric SUV feels fast, modern, and comfortable, but without the traditional brutality of the brand. It is well-suited for dynamic driving on roads and light off-road conditions, but the feeling of a classic Jeep, focused on extreme off-road conditions, is almost completely absent.
