Half a Century After the "Kopeyka": Lada Iskra Delivers - Safety on Par with Foreign Cars

AvtoVAZ shared the test results of the new Lada Iskra model, which underwent 84 crash tests in laboratory conditions and at proving grounds.

The tests involved both the car itself and individual elements of its design. As a result, it was announced that the new product meets high safety standards and is ready to compete with budget foreign counterparts in its class.

The model surpassed the requirements of Russian safety regulations. Independent crash tests confirmed that the Lada Iskra is as reliable as the Lada Vesta and foreign cars in the same segment. Even in the basic configuration, buyers will receive two airbags and an ESC stability control system. For road tests in Togliatti, 98 prototypes were created in different versions, which were tested at the factory test site, in the mountains, in the north, and on ordinary roads.

In addition to crash tests, the Lada Iskra was tested in a wind tunnel, anechoic and climatic chambers, as well as in an electromagnetic compatibility laboratory. We know that the car will be offered in three body styles: sedan, station wagon, and cross-station wagon. The cars will receive 1.6-liter engines with a manual gearbox or a CVT.

The start of production is scheduled for April 19, 55 years after the release of the "Kopeyka."
