With the release of iOS 26 in September 2025, iPhone users will be able to play videos on the car's central display via Apple CarPlay using AirPlay technology. This feature will allow watching videos from an iPhone when the car is stationary.
The function requires the car to be parked, as the iPhone automatically stops playback when motion is detected. However, support for this feature depends on automakers, who need to integrate the AirPlay video function into their systems. This may limit its availability on some car models.
Prior to official support in iOS 26, some users have already used third-party adapters and jailbreak tweaks to watch videos via CarPlay. The new feature will make the process more convenient and secure, eliminating the need for such workarounds.
At WWDC 2025, Apple also introduced an updated CarPlay interface in the Liquid Glass style, which includes new widgets, improved notifications, and more flexible screen customization, making the system even more intuitive.
