New technology patented by BMW will make "electric cars" sound without speakers

Bavarian engineers have come up with a non-standard way to voice electric vehicles

BMW has patented an unusual and, at first glance, interesting noise generation technology for electric vehicles. The patent proposes to get rid of the speakers typically used for this purpose in favor of elements already installed on the car that make sounds - electric motors that drive wipers, rear doors, and power windows.

However, to amplify the sound from these car components, it will be necessary to install resonators in very inaccessible places, while small speakers can be installed in any convenient place. And saving weight by eliminating speakers looks a little ridiculous against the background of how drastically the weight of an "electric car" differs from a regular car with an internal combustion engine, which does not need such refinements in principle.
