UAZ has become the fifth automobile plant in Russia to switch to a four-day work schedule, the Telegram channel Mash reported.
The reason was a drop in demand for domestic cars due to the popularity of Chinese models.
Since mid-July, the plant in Ulyanovsk has been operating in a reduced mode - the workshops have been stopped, layoffs have begun, and most of the employees have been sent home. Formally, UAZ is now on corporate leave, and repairs are underway at the enterprise.
Earlier, KamAZ, AvtoVAZ, GAZ and LiAZ also switched to a four-day working week, and PAZ even suspended operations.
