The Xiaomi YU7 electric crossover, which debuted in China in June 2025, has garnered over 240,000 orders in 18 hours, exceeding the company's production capacity. New customers will have to wait 56-59 weeks for delivery. Amid dissatisfaction with the timelines, Xiaomi recommends considering alternatives such as Xpeng G7, Li Auto i8, and Tesla Model Y, noting recent Tesla promotions.
In China, the YU7 costs from $35,300 to $45,900. The model is equipped with a battery of up to 101.7 kWh with a range of up to 835 km (CLTC) and an 800-volt architecture. The top version has a power output of 681 hp. In Russia, the YU7 is available through parallel import for 8.25 million rubles, which is significantly higher than prices in China.
The success of the YU7 underscores Xiaomi's ambitions in the electric vehicle segment, but limited capacity creates challenges. Competing with the Tesla Model Y in terms of specifications and price, the YU7 faces the problem of long waiting times, forcing customers to look for alternatives.
