Geely has announced an updated Monjaro crossover for the Chinese market. The new product will be presented on August 29 at the Chengdu Motor Show. The car received a 2.0-liter engine with 272 horsepower, which is 34 hp more than the current version, and an advanced driver assistance system that provides semi-autonomous driving.
The updated Monjaro, known in China as Xingyue L Dongfang Yao, was already restyled last year, when the exterior design and interior were changed. The new version retains these improvements, but the focus is on technical improvements. The car was tested in the extreme conditions of the Ulan Buh desert in Inner Mongolia, where the power plant, chassis, steering and all-wheel drive were tested. The crossover successfully coped with climbing a 100-meter sandy slope with an angle of 60 degrees and rocky sections.
The driver assistance system includes high-precision cameras mounted under the windshield, on the fenders and on the rear spoiler. They allow the car to independently perform lane changes, overtakes and transitions between highways, requiring the driver to only control the process. Prices for the updated Monjaro will be announced at the Chengdu Motor Show.
