An unusual incident occurred in China with the Xiaomi SU7 electric car. According to the owner, his parked car suddenly started moving, even though there was no driver inside. A recording from surveillance cameras, which he provided to the media, confirms that the car was parked near the house when it suddenly activated and drove off. The incident quickly spread across social networks under the hashtag "Xiaomi Car Suddenly Drove Away."
After the incident, the owner contacted the company's support service. The initial version of the specialists was that the remote start function was triggered via a smartphone. However, the car owner stated that he was not using the phone at that moment and provided a recording showing everything that was happening.
Later, industry sources clarified the details: internal logs showed that a command was indeed sent to the RPA parking assistance system from an Apple device linked to the owner's account. This function allows the car to enter and exit a parking space via a signal from a smartphone. Critics note that such systems should provide strict restrictions and not allow the car to start moving without the driver being present.
The owner demanded that Xiaomi provide complete original operating logs, not partial excerpts from them. As of October 3, Xiaomi has not published an official investigation report. The incident did not result in injuries or property damage, but it has intensified the discussion about whether modern security systems for intelligent cars are reliable enough.
