Ford has filed a patent for a system of interchangeable interior elements that will allow owners to independently change interior details and update equipment without buying a new car.
Patent number 0303979 was registered on February 17 and published on October 2, 2025. According to the application, future Ford models will receive interchangeable panels, screens, consoles, multimedia, and other elements installed on a modular basis. Owners will be able to customize the interior to their personal needs, change the configuration of the cabin, and even upgrade equipment without visiting a car dealership.
The company explained that the goal of the project is to make the cabin more functional and adaptable: from a mobile office to a recreation area. At the same time, Ford emphasized that the registration of the patent does not guarantee the imminent appearance of the technology in production models, but the concept is being considered as part of the brand's future solutions.
