Russians have massively gone to Belarus for used cars. In anticipation of the upcoming increase in the recycling fee, compatriots are literally attacking car dealerships and car markets in the neighboring country in order to purchase the most "passable" options imported into the territory of Belarus more than a year ago.
Such cars can be registered by paying the fee at a preferential rate. Russians are most actively buying cars of German brands. First of all, we are talking about premium models — Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. But also models of other brands find owners.
Let us remind you that the Ministry of Industry and Trade recently published a new draft reform of the collection of the recycling fee. If previously the amount of the payment was affected by the age and working volume of the car engine, then from November 1, 2025 they plan to introduce a new principle, when the base rate will be formed on the basis of volume, and the increasing coefficient on the basis of power.
The new rules will hit the most popular models the hardest: Toyota RAV4, BMW X3, BMW X5, Hyundai Palisade, BMW 5 Series, Toyota Highlander, KIA Sorento, KIA Carnival and Hyundai Santa Fe and others.
