The penalty for hidden car numbers in Russia is now 1 to 1.5 years of license suspension. This was reported by auto expert Roman Chikun.
With regard to negligent car enthusiasts who hide the number with paper or a curtain <...> - deprivation of rights for a period of one year to 1.5 years.
The expert warned that the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation also considers covering the number with snow or dirt a violation.
The law on revoking driver's licenses for up to one and a half years for concealing a car number was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in October last year.
Prior to this, drivers faced a fine of 500 rubles for driving with unreadable or dirty numbers, and for masking the number they could lose their rights for only three months or be fined 5,000 rubles.
Earlier it became known that the cost of preparing a car for winter in Russia has increased by 16%.
