According to the results of January-September 2025, 1.01 million new cars were sold in Russia, which is 25% less than the figures for the same period last year (1.35 million units). This was announced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The department noted that the market for new domestically produced cars exceeded 556 thousand units (-5% year-on-year). The market volume in the passenger car segment amounted to 890.3 thousand units (-22%), in the light commercial vehicle segment - 75.5 thousand units (-21%), buses - 8.1 thousand units (-45%), trucks - 40.3 thousand units (-56%).
At the same time, a total of 136.5 thousand new cars were sold in September, which is 1% more than the results of the previous month and 33% more than the results of June, one of the "lowest" months of this year. Sales of passenger cars in September decreased by 18% year-on-year and amounted to 122.1 thousand units.
In addition, the new electric vehicle market for nine months amounted to 8657 units (-43% year-on-year), and the share of those manufactured in the Russian Federation reached 30% (19% last year).
