Better not to buy them: Top car brands for which it is most difficult to find spare parts in Russia

Audi, Porshe and Cadillac are among the most problematic

Currently, it is most difficult in Russia to find spare parts for European and Chinese cars that are rare in the market. This was stated by Barno Tursunova, co-founder of the Vilgud smart car service chain.

Adventures of Americans in Russia

According to her, difficulties with finding spare parts may also arise for Chinese brands.

Among Europeans, individual models of Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, Land Rover may be particularly problematic in this regard.

There are difficulties even with the Chinese

Among American brands in the problematic top are Buick, Cadillac, among Chinese brands are Changan, FAW, BAW, Avatr, BYD, LIXiang and Zeekr.

If a car is not mass-produced or has been discontinued, it is extremely difficult to find original spare parts for it, especially in the case of specific or rare parts.

Tursunova explained that the reasons for this situation are changes in logistics and the consequences of sanctions. After 2022, Russia faced restrictions on the supply of spare parts for a number of car brands.

Repairs have become more expensive

Against this background, car repairs in Russia have risen in price by 15%, Tursunova added. In addition to the indicated problems with spare parts, the increase in personnel costs and maintenance of services, as well as an increase in rental rates, have an additional impact.

The average check for car repairs reached 23—25 thousand rubles, which is higher than the figures for 2024 and reflects several trends at once.

Firstly, the increase in the cost of spare parts and work. Secondly, a change in customer requests: car owners are increasingly choosing more large-scale repairs, trying to extend the life of their cars.

Tursunova believes that in the near future the trend towards aging of the car fleet, increasing operating costs and a gradual increase in the cost of consumables will continue. All this will keep repair prices at a relatively high level.
