When driving in fog, it is better for drivers to measure the distance in seconds. This advice for car owners was given by auto expert Petr Bakanov.
According to him, fog is dangerous because it distorts the distance to objects. It usually seems that they are far away from us, but in reality the distance is less.
In fog, you need to be very careful and, first of all, measure the distance not by eye, but in seconds. And keep five seconds in reserve. Here you saw an object ahead. A car that is going ahead through the fog lined up with it. You lined up with it. And this is the distance between you, when, for example, the car in front drove away, you count down.
The specialist emphasized that when driving in bad weather, you need to consider that braking takes longer, so you should take extra seconds in reserve. It is also necessary to calculate your actions on the road in advance in order to avoid emergency situations.
