The Moskvich plant may begin large-node assembly of a new M70 car model as early as the end of 2025, and begin selling them in early 2026. The first M70 units are planned to be assembled in December next year.
These plans were discussed back in 2025 at a meeting of the brand's dealers with the plant's CEO, Hans-Peter Moser.
As clarified by a representative of Rolf, the dealer won a tender for two sites to sell the new crossover. A separate legal entity will be created for this and a dealer agreement will be signed.
Sources add that the production of a seven-seater crossover under the index M90 may be localized at the Moskvich plant site.
As a reminder, the French company Renault owned the Moscow car factory since 1998, but in March 2022, the company announced the closure of the enterprise and its withdrawal from the Russian market. After that, the plant became the property of the Moscow government and received a new name - Moscow Automobile Plant Moskvich JSC. Serial assembly of cars at the enterprise resumed on November 23, 2022.
