Japanese sources have reported that Toyota will present the new Land Cruiser FJ as early as October 21, and a closed screening for selected media will be held the day before. The model will become a new compact SUV in the brand's lineup and will be produced in Thailand on the same platform as the Hilux Champ.
Judging by the published patent images, the Land Cruiser FJ will receive a five-door body with straight lines and a square silhouette, as well as characteristic elements — massive wheel arches, an almost vertical stern and a spare tire on the tailgate. The lower part of the body is protected by black overlays, emphasizing the off-road character of the model.
In terms of size, the FJ is close to the Compact Cruiser EV concept of 2021 and has a length of about 4500 mm. The novelty is built on the IMV-0 platform and will feature a frame structure, which will ensure its excellent cross-country ability.
It is expected that Toyota will offer a 2.7-liter gasoline engine and a 2.8-liter turbodiesel with a mild hybrid for different markets. Transmissions — 6- and 8-speed automatic transmissions, all-wheel drive is provided by default. Sales will start in Japan and Asia in mid-2026.
