Fake Chinese-made tires, passed off as well-known brands, have appeared on the Russian market. Anastasia Tishina, an expert in the industry, warned that it is extremely difficult to distinguish them from the originals, especially in the expensive segment.
According to her, fraudsters disguise products as premium brands, including Michelin Pilot Sport 4. Prices for such tires often seem suspiciously favorable. For example, a set of size 275/35 ZR22 was offered for 100 thousand rubles with a 50% discount.
However, upon careful inspection, the fake is revealed by details - traces of an erased old production date, a large inscription Made in France, uncharacteristic font markings and an incorrect tread pattern.
Buyers should be especially careful when ordering tires online - the risk of running into a fake is greater than ever.
Tishina added that Chinese fakes are most often found among tires with a large landing diameter - from 18 inches and above.
