Steering wheel "jams" in the cold: Lada Largus may be discontinued

AVTOVAZ has started checking the model

Rosstandart has sent AvtoVAZ a notice of non-compliance of Lada Largus with safety requirements. The reason was mass complaints from drivers — with the onset of cold weather, the steering wheel "jams", creating a risk of an accident. The manufacturer is conducting an inspection.

At the plant in Izhevsk, components have been checked and tests have been carried out since October 21 — based on the results, the manufacturer is obliged to submit a report.

The official letter from Rosstandart states that, pending completion of the work, the domestic manufacturer has imposed a sales restriction for all Lada Largus commercial vehicles. But at the moment they have not been stopped.

As of today, AvtoVAZ has not received any additional letters from Rosstandart after a request for information published on the Internet. An official response is being prepared to the request. Recommendations have been sent to the dealer network with a mechanism for eliminating and preventing the specified design feature.

The test results and a report on the work carried out must be sent to Rosstandart. If violations are confirmed, Lada Largus may be found not to comply with the technical regulations and withdrawn from sale until the defects are eliminated.
