By the end of 2025, the Toyota Tacoma once again dominates the US market — a mid-size pickup that American buyers consistently choose more often than any competitor. In the third quarter, sales reached 204,464 vehicles, up 61% from last year. The update to the fourth generation has significantly increased demand, and the model is likely to surpass the 2021 record of 257,000 vehicles sold.
Rivals have managed to improve, but they are not yet able to catch up with the Tacoma. Chevrolet Colorado took second place with 77,390 pickups sold since the beginning of the year. Ford Ranger showed growth of more than 57% and reached 48,278 vehicles. Nissan Frontier became the only mid-size pickup whose sales fell — to 47,630 units.
Jeep Gladiator added 18% and took fifth place (38,513 vehicles), and GMC Canyon finished the quarter last, but also showed growth — 27,878 pickups sold. Competition will intensify in the coming years: Ram is preparing its own mid-size pickup, but it will have to work hard to challenge Toyota's stable leadership.
