South African SVI Engineering has expanded its line of protected vehicles, adding the Porsche Cayenne Coupe to the list of models available with the lightweight SVI Lite armor package. This B2-level package is focused on protection in urban environments — from attempted theft to attacks using short-barreled weapons — and serves as a more affordable alternative to the heavier B4 and B6 versions.
Only the side doors are reinforced as part of the package. Concealed Kevlar panels are installed inside, and the standard side windows are replaced with lightweight ballistic glass. The main advantage of the solution is the full preservation of the windows' operation, which is rare in heavier armor systems. The kit provides B2 level protection against 9mm pistol rounds.
The weight increase is minimal — less than 15 kg per door. Thanks to this, the dynamics of the Cayenne Coupe hardly change, regardless of the version — from the basic 260-kW modification to the S, GTS, Turbo GT, or hybrids.
The price of SVI Lite starts at $4,400 per door excluding VAT. Installation is carried out at the SVI factory in Pretoria and takes about two weeks.
