GWM has announced the launch date for the Tank 300 Polar Edition: the model will be released on December 10 and will be the most frost-resistant version of the popular SUV. Developed for operation in the Far North and remote areas, this modification grew out of Antarctic tests — it was the diesel Tank 300 that Chinese polar researchers used during the 42nd expedition to the Great Wall station. The car passed tests in chambers where temperatures below minus 30°C and snowstorms were simulated, after which it was sent to Antarctica to transport personnel and cargo.
The Polar Edition stands out with its special Polar Orange color, branded emblems of the series, and the option to install three special packages. "Winter Protection" adds heated windshield and nozzles, "Snow Hike" enhances off-road potential with ice and deep snow tires, and "Evacuation Escort" offers a remote winch and 2.5-ton towing equipment. Under the hood is the 2.4-liter 186 hp and 490 Nm diesel unit, proven in Antarctica, working with a nine-speed automatic transmission and demonstrating stable cold starts.
The serial debut of the Polar Edition will expand the range of extreme SUVs designed for operation in harsh climates and snow, and will put the Tank 300 on par with expedition versions of the Toyota Land Cruiser, Hilux, and modifications of the Ford F-150.
