Equipment for BYD plant arrives in Hungary

Trial assembly will begin in early 2026, mass production in the second quarter

The first batch of equipment for the future BYD production line has arrived in Szeged — this is a key stage in the preparation of the plant, which the Chinese auto concern is building in Hungary. A video of the unloading was published by Yuanzhitou 2018. According to recent data, pilot production at the facility will start in the first quarter of 2026, and full-scale mass assembly in the second.

BYD announced the construction of a plant in Europe back in December 2023. The project should help the company avoid additional duties on electric vehicles and strengthen its position in the European market. In January 2024, BYD acquired land for the facility, and in September 2025, it confirmed that construction is proceeding on schedule.

Previously, company representatives assumed the launch of production before the end of 2025, but Reuters sources reported that the deadlines were postponed to 2026. In addition, the plant will reach full capacity gradually.
