Hyundai has announced the recall of 51,587 Tucson SUVs from the 2022-2024 model years, equipped with optional wiring for trailer towing. Also subject to recall are 1,338 self-installation wiring harness kits sold through dealers. The reason is faulty wiring that can be exposed to water and cause a short circuit, and in some cases, a fire.
Hyundai notes that the malfunction could cause the stoplights or trailer lights to fail, creating a risk of an accident for other road users. Despite this, the company allows owners to continue operating their Tucsons, but advises parking away from buildings, other cars, and people until the recall work is completed. Work to fix the defect is not expected to begin until the second half of February 2026.
Special attention should be paid to owners of vehicles where the wiring harness was installed independently using dealer kits. Since such installations may have been carried out outside the official network, Hyundai warns of the need to check these vehicles and exercise increased caution when parking and operating.
