Russia is not considering banning right-hand drive cars and does not plan to introduce restrictions on such cars. This was stated by the head of Rosstandart, Anton Shalaev.
According to him, to date, there are no decisions to ban the operation of right-hand drive cars and they are not on the agenda. Shalaev stressed that the information about the imminent tightening of policies regarding such cars is not true.
At the same time, the head of Rosstandart admitted that changes may be made to the current GOSTs in 2026. These adjustments could theoretically complicate the procedure for confirming the compliance of right-hand drive cars with the established requirements.
But there is no question of banning right-hand drive cars.
Shalaev noted that we are talking about technical regulation, and not about a direct ban on the operation of such vehicles.
