Chery Tiggo in Russia: Drivers Risk Being Locked In Due to Freezing Locks

No Official Comments Yet

Owners of Chery Tiggo crossovers in Russia have encountered a problem: in freezing temperatures, the driver's door can spontaneously lock, leaving a person trapped inside or outside the car. As a rule, the malfunction occurs specifically with the driver's door, according to Shot.

According to preliminary information, the reason is in the electric actuator of the lock: condensate gets into it, which turns into ice in the cold.

In simple cases, the door can be opened with the help of a duplicate button inside the cabin or a power window. In more complex situations, drivers have to wait until the lock thaws in a warm box. With frequent blockages, it is recommended to replace the central lock.

Comments from the Russian representative office of Chery were not received at the time of publication.
