The Russian car market ranked fifth in the European ranking in terms of sales of new passenger cars in 2025. The data was published by the Avtostat agency with reference to GlobalData.
Germany retained first place with 2.86 million cars sold (+1.4%). Great Britain remained second with a result of 2.02 million cars (+3.5%). France took third place with 1.63 million units (−5%). Italy rose to 4th place, where sales reached 1.53 million cars (−2.2%).
Russia was in fifth place with 1.33 million cars sold. Spain follows with 1.15 million cars (+12.9%). This is the last country in Europe where sales exceeded 1 million units.
According to Avtostat Director Sergei Tselikov, the Russian car market dropped to 13th place in the world ranking. In 2024, it was in 11th position, losing to Italy and Mexico in 2025.
China remains the leader in the global market with 23.77 million cars (+3.9%), followed by the USA with 16.3 million (+2.3%).
