Chinese Geely plans to change its presence format in Russia and launch a new brand on the market as early as 2026. This was announced by Alexey Poschekolin, president of the "Russian Automotive Dealers" association. According to him, it could be a partnership project, including with the participation of GAZ, which immediately fueled interest in the long-discussed revival of the Volga brand.
Earlier, there were already rumors in the industry that the popular crossovers Geely Monjaro and Geely Atlas could receive Volga badges and start a new life under the historical Russian brand. There is no direct confirmation of this yet, but the very possibility of a new name appearing based on well-known models looks quite logical against the background of the current strategy of automakers.
Geely does not officially comment on these plans, but the practice of rebranding is already actively used in Russia. The market features Knewstar 001, which is actually a Geely Tugella, and Nordcross 001, a renamed Lynk&Co 09. Against this background, the launch of another brand looks not like an experiment, but a continuation of a well-established model of adaptation to Russian realities.
