Million New Cars with SOS Button: How ERA-GLONASS is Expanding

Currently, the system includes over 13.3 million cars

In 2026, Russia will see over 1 million new cars equipped with the ERA-GLONASS emergency response system. The growth will be driven by both new car deliveries and imports, according to Alexey Raikevich, General Director of JSC GLONASS.

According to him, more than 13.3 million cars have already been connected to the system by the beginning of the year. Thus, ERA-GLONASS coverage continues to expand due to the renewal of the vehicle fleet and the supply of equipment from abroad.

We expect that in 2026, the number of produced and imported cars equipped with SOS buttons will increase by more than one million vehicles.
Alexey Raikevich, General Director of JSC GLONASS

Over the ten years of operation, ERA-GLONASS has transmitted over 550,000 signals about accidents to emergency services. In the first three weeks of 2026 alone, the system processed over 7,000 requests, of which over 6,500 were automatic – in the event of serious accidents.

Raikevich reminded that the system is integrated with all regional 112 services. This allows for the transmission of coordinates and information about the incident to emergency services in an average of 19 seconds. This timeframe is considered critical for providing assistance in the "golden hour" after an accident.
