Experts surveyed by the Avtostat analytical agency assessed the market prospects of the Russian Atom electric vehicle. In their opinion, the model is of interest from the point of view of technology and concept, but its promotion on the Russian market will be associated with difficulties.
Among the survey participants are Igor Morzharetto, editor-in-chief of the Avtodor radio station, Anna Utkina, communications director of Avtodom Group and AvtoSpetsCenter Group, and Yuri Ten, founder of Terminal A service. Experts note the originality and technological effectiveness of Atom, but point to the narrow niche of electric vehicles in Russia and the relatively high price in relation to competitors.
The main competitors of Atom in the market are Moskvich 3e, Evolute i-Joy, Amberauto A5 and UMO U5, which is a clone of GAC Aion Y Plus from Yandex. According to experts, the annual sales volume of Atom may range from 2–3 thousand to 5–6 thousand cars.
The main demand, according to the forecast, will be provided by corporate clients: car parks, taxis and car sharing may account for 60–70% of sales. Production of the electric vehicle at the Moskvich plant has not yet been launched, and the start of sales is scheduled for the spring of 2026. The expected price of Atom will be 2.7–3.2 million rubles, taking into account state support, and about 4 million rubles without it.
